The Healthcare Commission - the independent inspection body for the NHS - published the results of its annual health check for 2005/2006 on 12th October 2006. This scores NHS trusts on many aspects of their performance, including the quality of the services they provide to patients and the public and how well they manage their finances and other resources such as their property and staff. These scores are based on a range of information gathered throughout the year. This includes information collected through various service reviews and inspections.
A summary of the results in the North East region has been prepared by the North East PHO.
