This report has been commissioned by Smoke Free North East (SFNE) to provide support for service commissioners and providers in tobacco control. It summarises the views of the SFNE Intelligence Subgroup following a review of a more detailed methodological paper on the various sources of information.
The SFNE Intelligence Subgroup advises the use of data as follows:
- at regional level we should use data from the Health Survey for England;
- at local authority level we should use commercial data from Acxiom; and
- at electoral ward level we should use ONS synthetic estimates.
